About the Text Diff Viewer
Compare two blocks of text or code and see exactly what changed, with insertions and deletions highlighted line by line. The diff viewer is useful for reviewing edits to a document, comparing two versions of a configuration file, checking what a colleague changed in a snippet, or verifying that generated output matches an expected result. Comparison runs locally in your browser.
How to use the Text Diff Viewer
- Paste the original text in the left panel.
- Paste the modified text in the right panel.
- Choose side-by-side or inline view.
- Review the highlighted additions and removals.
Frequently asked questions
Does it ignore whitespace differences?
Whitespace changes are shown, because they matter in code and in some data formats. Normalise indentation first if you want to ignore them.
Can I compare very long files?
Yes, though extremely large inputs may take a moment. Typical source files and documents compare instantly.
Is this the same as git diff?
It works on the same principle, finding the minimal set of line changes, but it does not need a repository and works on any pasted text.
